<personName>George</personName> was at <personName>Lorah</personName>s, yesterday & he says they were taking out our Potatoes, and had a hundred Bushels, and <add>were</add> not done yet. They are very large. Where to put them, our <add>large</add> Boxe is full of our lot, we shall have the cellar filled _ I wish we could sell some; at any rate we can supply <personName>Mary</personName> so that she need not buy __
I am obliged to you for wishing to get me a dress _ but as I still have two lying by unmade, it is not necessary, and I beg you will not get me any, perhaps I may not live to wear these, 'tho I am very well, too. I walked out to <personName>Mary</personName>s <add> this week</add> and in again in one afternoon, with <personName>Kitty</personName> & some of the girls, and slept like a top that night. <personName>Rosa</personName> could not go along, as she had a second blister on her throat, and I am in hopes it has cured the irritation she has had in her throat this summer. She wishes you to get her a handsome fashionable black silk, as her figure'd one <deletion>are</deletion> <add>is</add> wearing out. She wishes you to get her the music on this slip of paper, and send it on, in the shape of a pamphlet or Book by mail _ She will write about the dress herself. __
As to the Girls, the Chintz you brought them in the spring will make each a dress, <personName>Angeline Schwarts</personName> tells them, particularly as the sleeves at present are not so enormous.
I do not see that they must have a dress every time, you return, you might get them some trifle or other. But do as you like, with regard to them. A dress is allways serviceable.
