A choir performs during a Renaissance Festival, 1980. Muhlenberg College hosted a Renaissance Festival on in the Center for the Arts on campus throughout the weekend of September 27-29, 1980. The event was put together by over 60 Muhlenberg students and faculty members, and the Muhlenberg Theatre Association (MTA) provided performances of Commedia del'Arte throughout the weekend. In addition, musicians from the University of Pennsylvania's Collegium Musicum and members of the Cambridge Court Dancers came to campus to put on period concerts and performances meant to emulate Italy between 1450 and 1550. The festival weekend consisted of musical performances, dance pieces, and workshops for activities such as fencing, calligraphy, weaving, herbology, quilling, wrestling, stained-glass making, wax seal production, and jewelry making. Additionally, period food was served and craftsman had their homemade goods available to purchase.
