The Trexler Library Scholar Award for Information Literacy recognizes students who have demonstrated growth in and increased understanding of information literacy through independent study. Students were nominated by faculty, and the winners were then chosen through an application process.
In their applications, students reflected on how they came to understand and
utilize one or more of the following major information literacy concepts:
-Authority is constructed and contextual
-Research as inquiry
-Information creation as a process
-Scholarship as conversation
-Information has value
-Searching as strategic exploration
Trexler Library supports the development of information literate students who can discover, organize, analyze, create, and share information in order to achieve their academic goals and to enhance their independent, lifelong learning habits. Information literate students will thereby develop an intellectual framework for critical analysis and reflection of diverse information resources.
