Trexler Library Scuttlebutt

A Monthly Update

Stronger than Ever

The library’s book collection is stronger than ever, thanks to a collaborative effort by faculty and librarians. This past year, we have made great strides in more closely aligning our collection with a recognized benchmark in academic libraries, the Bowker Book Analysis (aka RCLweb).

Specifically, since January of ’08, we’ve moved from owning 22 percent of titles recommended by Bowker to 26 percent (some 16K titles) in June of ’09. This means that across the disciplines, we are increasingly acquiring the titles most recommended by a panel of some 300 subject specialists.

Our goal is to own 60 percent of the recommended titles. You can help us reach our goal, when making purchases for the library, by regularly consulting the Bowker Book Analysis list, aka RCLweb.
