Books in Print: Great for Planning Course Readings

All Muhlenberg faculty and staff have access via library subscription to Books in Print, a database that can be a great help in planning readings for courses.

Books in Print verifies if a book is a) in print, b) in stock, and c) available as hardcover, soft cover, or e-book.

Are You a Frequent User of U.S. Government Documents?

If you use government documents extensively for research, teaching, or personal reasons, the U.S. Government Printing Office solicits your participation in a survey of user perceptions of the value of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), with particular emphasis on access, collections, and services. The survey can be accessed at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HSLCRRB.

Library Catalog and Databases Unavailable Dec. 21st

A library system upgrade has been scheduled for the library catalog on Dec. 21st (this is a change from the previously announced date of Dec. 20th). During the upgrade, the catalog and most library databases including WorldCat and Academic Search Premier, plus interlibrary loan, will be unavailable for a 24-hour period (beginning the morning of Dec. 20th).

Infomaniac Tip

Hate PowerPoint? Check out five web-based alternatives! Prezi, SlideRocket, 280 Slides, Google Docs, and Zoho Show have many features in common with PowerPoint, but each has its own set of bells and whistles (or lack thereof for those who appreciate simplicity). The common benefit is that they’re all saved online, rather than on your personal computer or thumb drive, allowing you to access them from anywhere anytime.
