Trexler Library Scuttlebutt

A Bi-Weekly Update

How Do I Find a List of Peer-Reviewed Journals in My Field?

A list of peer-reviewed journals in all disciplines can be derived from the UlrichsWeb database available via library subscription. To get to UlrichsWeb, visit the library home page, and choose Online Reference Shelf.

Once in UlrichsWeb, check the box marked Refereed. Limit by subject as desired, or leave the subject line blank to get a list of peer-reviewed journals in all disciplines.

UNESCO World Poetry Day

In celebration of UNESCO World Poetry Day, the library is inviting members of the Muhlenberg community to read original or out-of-copyright (published before 1923) poetry at a recording session on March 16 from 5-7 PM in the Trexler Library Rare Books Room.

The readings will be rebroadcast in a hour-long broadcast March 21st on WMUH 91.7

Students, staff, or faculty who want to read a poem can sign up at the lending services desk in Trexler Library.

Google’s Art Project: Explore museums and art from around the world

Google’s Art Project is “a unique collaboration with some of the world’s most acclaimed art museums to enable people to discover and view more than a thousand artworks online in extraordinary detail.

  • Explore museums with Street View technology: virtually move around the museum’s galleries, selecting works of art that interest you, navigate though interactive floor plans and learn more about the museum as you explore.
  • Artwork View: discover featured artworks at high resolution and use the custom viewer to zoom into paintings. Expanding the info panel allows you to read more about an artwork, find more works by that artist and watch related YouTube videos.
  • Create your own collection: the ‘Create an Artwork Collection’ feature allows you to save specific views of any of the 1000+ artworks and build your own personalised collection. Comments can be added to each painting and the whole collection can then be shared with friends and family.”

Explore 17 museums and their art, including: the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City), the Tate Britain (London), the Palace of Versailles (Versailles), the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam), the State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg), the Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid), and more.
