Ebscohost Expands Its Territory

Some Scuttlebutt readers will be very familiar with research databases like Omnifile (WilsonWeb), Humanities Full Text, or Art Full Text.  These databases are produced by H.W. Wilson, the same company that published those lovely olive-green print indexes so many years ago titled The Reader’s Guide. (H.W. Wilson has been stationed in Bronx, NY for as long as Scuttlebutt can remember.)

In recent month, the H.W. Wilson databases have all been acquired by Ebscohost, the maker of Academic Search PremierBusiness Source Elite, and the like. This means major changes afoot for how the Wilson databases will look and feel–probably making them a lot like Academic Search Premier (which from Scuttlebutt’s view can only be a good thing).  The changeover to the new interfaces will take place over the late fall and early winter months.

12/2 – Lecture: Chip Gruen discusses the history and composition of the papyri collection housed in Trexler Library’s Special Collections.  (Seegers 111-112, 12:00-1:00 p.m.)
