Trexler Library 30th Birthday Celebration

Trexler Library is 30 years old! Yes, it hardly seems possible, but this location of the library (the library used to be in the Haas Building) has been open since 1988. Join us in a celebration on Oct. 24 with cake and hors d’oeuvres!

New York Times Subscription Access

This is just a reminder to members of the Muhlenberg campus community that Trexler Library provides online access to the New York Times. Through our group subscription agreement, you have full access to news, multimedia, and the archives of the New York Times. You create an account with the New York Times and access content through that account. Your account must be created on campus from this link http://www.nytimes.com/grouppass using your Muhlenberg email address in order to take advantage of our group subscription.
If you have already set up an account using our group access, that access expires after 365 days, so you will need to re-establish your account each year. This is due to how the NYTimes manages our subscription. To set up or to renew your access, please use the directions as provided on this library guide: http://libraryguides.muhlenberg.edu/NYTimes/or the directions below:
  • While on campus, connected to our campus network, go to http://www.nytimes.com/grouppass.
  • Using your Muhlenberg email address, click on ‘Create an Account’ or ‘Log in’ if you already have an account.
  • If activated correctly, you should see a screen indicating the expiration of your pass (should be about a year later).
  • Once activated, you may now access NYTimes.com from any device, from any location (using your email address as the username and the password you created for this NYTimes pass).
  • Please note that your NY Times password does not sync with your Muhlenberg password to login to different campus applications.

Take the Campus History Walking Tour

Trexler Library Special Collections staff have developed a Muhlenberg campus history walking tour. The tour allows you to read about the history of Muhlenberg College buildings as you walk around campus.  Find the tour here.
The tour is officially known as Muhlenberg Pathways to Present, a free app that puts the history of Muhlenberg College at your fingertips. Take a self-guided walking tour of the campus to learn more about the individuals, buildings, and events that shaped the College. Explore its history through archival materials, interviews, and student research made available by Trexler Library’s Special Collections and Archives. Check back often as new content will be added regularly.

Infomaniac

The library is ordering a special report on Generation Z students, published by the Chronicle of Higher Education. It should arrive (hard copy) at the library in about 10 days from now. Locate the report via Encompass Search, or contact the library at refdesk@muhlenberg.edu
