UC Libraries Say No to Rising Journal Costs

The library system of the University of California has taken on Nature publishing in response to a 400 percent increase in subscription costs. Supported by faculty, the California Digital Library, which negotiates journal and database subscriptions, threatens to suspend subscription to all Nature Group journals (67 in all) if the publisher doesn’t drop its prices. In addition, faculty have agreed to boycott contribution of scientific papers to the publisher (a major blow). Read the full story here.
