Updates to the Muhlenberg Scholarly Publications database

One summer project of library staff has been to update the Muhlenberg Scholarly Publications citation database. Our goal is to list all scholarly books and articles published during the tenure of a faculty or staff member at the College. Thanks to all faculty and staff who have submitted citations of their publications to us so far. It is from this database that we generate citation lists for the Source Book, etc.

To get to the database, visit the library home page and click on Special Collections, then Muhlenberg College Digital Commons, or go directly to:

http://www.muhlenberg.edu:8080/librarydspace/handle/10718/7

At your convenience, please review your list of publications as it appears in the database. RSVP to this email with additional citations you may have, or suggestions for changes.

In the future, we are looking to add full text to establish a permanent archive of Muhlenberg scholarly output, but only as copyright holders (usually the publishers) allow. This is very much a work in progress.

A Scholarly Resource Dedicated to Theatre and Dance Research

For many years, students, faculty, and staff at Muhlenberg have “made do” with the Modern Language Association (MLA) or other interdisciplinary resource to research theatre and dance. Enter International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance Full Text. This resource is the definitive research tool for the study of theatre and the performing arts.

This scholarly resource was initiated by the American Society for Theatre Research, and since 1984, the Theatre Research Data Center (TRDC) at Brooklyn College has amassed an annotated databank of over 60,000 journal articles, books, book chapters and dissertation abstracts on all aspects of theatre and performance in 126 countries. International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text contains more than 490 full-text titles, including more than 170 full-text journals, and more than 360 full-text books & monographs.

Access: Visit the library home page, and choose Databases A to Z, or go directly to: http://0-search.ebscohost.com.library.muhlenberg.edu/login.asp?profile=ehost&defaultdb=ibh

Infomaniac Tip

Doodle: The Great Web Scheduling Tool

Do you find yourself sending out scores of emails trying to get a few colleagues together for a meeting? Just when you think you have a date, someone notifies you of a conflict. And the emails start up again.

Doodle can help you avoid all of that. Create a free account, and away you go. Doodle allows you to propose a number of dates and times to your colleagues, and they check all the times they are available. You (and they) can quickly see what dates and times emerge as likely ones for a meeting.

To get to Doodle, visit http://doodle.com/

Here is an example of a Doodle you would ask your colleagues to fill out:http://doodle.com/BSPdkz8zfvy9xupn
