Author of poems such as Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Frost drew his imagery from rural New England. At a time when his fellow modernists were breaking with traditional forms and “making it new,” Frost’s works stand out for their rhyme, meter and earthy themes. Possibly it is this accessibility that makes his poetry so beloved among readers.
Jonathan Reichert, son of Rabbi Victor Reichert, a close friend of Frost’s who maintained a 24-year correspondence with the poet, recently donated his father’s collection of letters, audiotapes and other materials to the State University of New York at Buffalo. The collection will be on display at UB from January 31 through March 29.
