Dick Begbie Photo Exhibit In the Information Commons

Dick Begbie is exhibiting 11 of the 16 photos of his “Watkins Glen” series in the Information Commons of the Trexler Library.  The photos were taken during a visit to Watkins Glen, New York, in the summer of 2008.  Begbie was struck with the juxtaposition of the natural and the manmade features of the steep trail that winds through the park’s canyon. These digital photos were taken early on a misty morning.  While originally taken in color, these vernacular photos were printed in black and white, giving an aesthetic similar to those taken by Ansel Adams of Yosemite National Park.  Begbie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Arts and Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology along with additional degrees in Business Administration and Higher Education form other institutions.  For 10 years he was Director of the Art Gallery while also serving as the Director of the Tompkins College Center and Student Activities at Cedar Crest College.  Currently he is Assistant Director of Plant Operations at Muhlenberg and was formerly Director of the Seegers Union at the College.
